Mr Fogg's Tavern: Recreating the Umble-cum-Stumble

Mr Fogg's Tavern: Recreating the Umble-cum-Stumble

In which I review an eccentric bar and try to re-create on of their delectable cocktails...

Just up the road from Trafalgar Square, on the edge of Covent Garden lies Mr Fogg's Tavern. From the outside it looks like a fairly normal London pub but once you step inside you are greeted by a cornucopia of eclectic British memorabilia and serving staff who would not look out of place in a steampunk setting.

It's the kind of place where Professor Elemental would not look out of place and while dressing up is not required I'd definitely consider wazing my moustache before tunring up and getting a hold of some tweed.

Live at the Ritz

Live at the Ritz

Live entertainment at one of London's most exquisite establishments...

The Ritz is a location that needs no introduction. Take a left turn out of Green Park tube station and on the edge of the park you will see the inimitable Ritz. A grand building built in the Parisian style with its own name in lights. Few places can boast the old era grandeur of the Louis XVI style dining rooms at The Ritz Restaurant that can be glimpsed as you walk past.

Nestled in a former monastery near Sutton Harbour, Plymouth is the Plymouth Gin Distillery. The oldest part of the building dates back to the 1400s but distilling first took place here in 1793 making this the oldest working gin distillery in England.

At the suggestion of a good friend I took the tour when I was in the area.

Lord Wargrave, Marylebone

Lord Wargrave, Marylebone

Good friends are nearly always conducive to finding new and interesting pubs. And so it was earlier in the week that I found myself hungry, pint-less, and late arriving at a Greene King pub opposite Baker Street station. A few of my partners in crime had already had the opportunity to quaff a pint (or two) and eat when I arrived. I, however, decided to heed the advice that we would be moving on to a more salubrious establishment as soon as the final straggler arrived.
